Members of our school choir took to the stage at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to back music star Bill Ryder-Jones on Thursday, November 28th 2024.
Bidston Avenue's school choir feature on four tracks on the Wirral musician's latest album which was released earlier this year. Iechyd Da is the former Coral guitarist's fifth solo album and was recorded at Bill's Yawn studios in West Kirby.
In front of a sell-out crowd at the famous venue the choir joined Bill to sing their parts to a rapturous reception.
Stuart Brady, headteacher, said: "Witnessing the Bidston Avenue Primary School children perform alongside Bill Ryder-Jones at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic was extremely moving.
"Their collaboration on Iechyd Da, which could be album of the year, has been a source of immense pride for our school, and seeing them share the stage with such a distinguished artist was a testament to their talent and dedication.
"The audience’s overwhelming response to our pupils’ performance was both heart-warming and inspiring. The show has not only showcased the exceptional abilities of our children but also underscored the importance of integrating arts into education, fostering confidence and creativity among young learners.”
Mr Brady also praised the choir’s musical director, Amy Chalmers.
He said: "Working with our choir leader, Amy, over many years has been a fabulous journey for our school.
"Her dedication and musical expertise have inspired our children to achieve remarkable things. Seeing her perform on violin, as part of Bill’s band, alongside the children was a true pinnacle for our choir.
"This unforgettable moment highlighted the culmination of years of passion, effort, and collaboration, leaving us all immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together.”
And the headteacher paid a special tribute to Bill for making it happen.
He added: "Bill has been an absolute joy to work with. His warmth, creativity and encouragement have been inspiring for our children and staff alike.
"Collaborating on Iechyd Da and performing live at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our children and Bill’s generosity and passion for music have made it all the more special.
"He has truly brought out the best in our choir and given them memories they will cherish forever.”
